 ~ Start by getting recommendations. Talk to friends and colleagues, don’t be shy ask people on the street, ask anyone with hair that you love where they got their hair cut and who did it.

~ Appearances matter. Choose a salon that makes you feel comfortable, if you enjoy the way it looks and feels that’s a great start, after all you may be spending some time there.

~ Go for a consultation, there should never be a charge for a consultation, check out your stylists look. Their look is strong hint about their taste, if you share their taste in hair that is a positive step.

~ Ask questions. Are they up on the latest trends? Can they give you the new look you want or can they maintain the look you love? Can they help you reproduce your look at home?

~ Salons specialize. Choose one that has experience working with your hair type.

~ Color is critical. Make sure there is a top notch colorist on site. Even if you presently don’t color your hair it may become an important part of your fashion statement in the future.

~ Do you use spa services? Nail services? Ask for a tour of the salon to see if you would be comfortable receiving facials, body massages, manicures, or pedicures in their facility.
